2023 Wellington Secondary Schools Underwater Hockey
The Wellington Underwater Hockey Association runs a league for secondary school year 9 to 13 athletes, the league is administered by College Sport Wellington (CSW). It is a structured league with 4 grades (Junior Girls, Junior Open, Senior Girls and Senior Open) to provide for both u15 and u19 players.
All school league matches are played at Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre. In 2025, when Naenae Pool reopens we intend to return to operating at both venues.

2023 Events
- Preseason ‘Have a go’ (23rd March – 7th April) League
- Preseason Blitz Tournament (31st March - 1st April 2023)
- Wellington Secondary Schools League (1st May – 18th August) including semis and finals
- Central Secondary Schools Championship (23rd- 25th June 2023) UWHNZ Qualification Event
- New Zealand Secondary Schools Underwater Hockey Championships.- Auckland (31st August - Sunday 3rd September 2023).

2023 Competition League
The competition league will run from 2 May 2023 until 25 August 2023. All teams will play 20-22 Matches for the season. Teams need to make the top 4 to qualify for the semi-finals and finals.

Pool Rules
General:
- Set up may begin at 7:20pm or earlier if the blue mats are down
- Goals and barriers must be placed on the blue mats when getting them in and out of the water
- 2 people per goal bin to carry and when swimming them in the water
- 1 person per yellow barrier to carry and when swimming them in the water
- There is to be no use of the bulk heads, if you must get from one side to the other either walk around or swim across
- There is to be no poolside changing (public have recently been complaining)
- A spotter is required for UWH and is a designated person focused on the pool at all times, they must be seated next to the pool on the blue chair
