Tribute- Doug Davies

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Doug. After a long battle with cancer, Doug passed away peacefully on Friday morning, 9th May 2025 with his family by his side. He was the best husband to Sue and dad to Kathryn and James.—a truly great man who was deeply loved by so many.

Doug’s warmth, humour, and generosity of spirit touched everyone who knew him. He had an incredible ability to connect with people and was always willing to lend a hand or offer a kind word. His strength and resilience throughout his illness were nothing short of inspiring.

Doug was introduced to Underwater Hockey through his children and soon found himself in the pool alongside them, playing for the Phoenix Underwater Hockey Club. His passion for the sport and dedication to the community led him to join the Wellington Underwater Hockey Committee, where he initially served as Treasurer. For the past three years, Doug proudly took on the role of Chair, providing thoughtful leadership and unwavering support to players, volunteers, and fellow committee members.

Doug's legacy will live on through the lives he touched—on the pool deck, in his community, and most of all, in his family. We will miss his steady presence, his laugh, and the love he gave so freely.
Rest in peace, Doug.
