We play at Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre (WRAC) in Kilbirnie, Wellington on Thursday nights 7:20pm - 9:45pm, this is also known as a 'Senior League' night. Throughout the year there are different Leagues organised for players to participate in. They range in length from short 3 week leagues up to longer 8 week leagues.

Season 2025

The new season is here. All players must register for the year here: https://forms.gle/cuRan4nzVfE4wHRC8

The schedule for the year is below. Fees have been held at the same level as last year (detail below).

Cup League #1 registrations are open (https://forms.gle/F226o9UDxhcVkBrw5) and close Sunday 16th Feb.

Club League Rules / Approach

  • Attendance: poor attendance impacts everyone at the pool, the team you're playing for and the teams you're playing against. Attendance was pretty good for the first half of last year, but fell away in the second. We have a policy that poor attendance may impact your preferred grade. This will be monitored more closely this year (in conjunction with the club reps). Poor attendance or availability could impact the grade and/or position you're allocated. We understand that life happens, and will do our best to accommodate where we can.
  • Mercs: we've previously had a no-mercs policy. Given the longer leagues this year, and lack of pool space during school holidays, we've decided that we will have an official merc pool for people that are only available for a couple of nights in a league. If you're wanting to enter in this way, please note that in the registration for a given league. Note:
    • Mercs will be allocated to teams by club reps in conjunction with team captains
    • A like-for-like replacement for missing players will be made
    • If teams are full or adding a merc will significantly change the strength of a team, there may be no spaces available
    • People named in teams are not eligible to merc
    • We will monitor how this works, and adjust as needed (e.g. introduce a points penalty if mercs are used)
  • Playing as clubs: we've more than doubled the number of weeks we play as clubs this year, to enable preparation for Norths as well as Nationals. This will be reviewed at the end of the year to gauge success. While this is in the interests of clubs, it does make it harder to ensure we have balanced games. Details are below in the schedule section below.
  • Mini tournament: we'll finish off the mini tournament with our guests from Tahoe tomorrow. Feedback so far has been overwhelmingly good. If there is a desire to have more mini events like this, we will see what can be done with pool space available throughout the year.

Cup League #2 (Thursday)

Welcome to the second cup league for 2025.

This is our second competitive league for 2025. Players were allocated to grades and teams in consultation with club reps, with a view to supporting ICC players as much as possible. The league will be played over two four-week blocks, with a break (no pool availability) during the school holidays. We have 88 players at ~80% planned availability.

ICC players and officials (congrats!) will be travelling for the last two weeks of the league. If this impacts team composition too much, scratch is an option (and results will be adjusted).

Nights / Grades
  • Eight nights: 5, 12, 19, 26 Jun // 17, 24, 31 Jul, 7 Aug
  • Exclusions: 3, 10 Jul (school holidays)
  • Grades: A/B
    • If attendance means a B-grade team does not have enough players to compete on a night, members of non-playing teams are welcome to help out (as long as this doesn't skew the result). Note this on the scoring form and results may be adjusted to compensate.
  • Everyone must be registered (including Mercs)
  • Mercs managed by club reps / team captains, subject to agreed rules (no guarantee of a placement if teams are full on a night)
  • Note: timing differences between grades for the first six weeks:
    • A grade: 25 min game slots (10-minute halves, 2 min half-time, 3 mins between games)
    • B grade: 20 min game slots (8-minute halves, 2 min half-time and between games)
Costs
(If not included in a full- or half-year membership)
  • League by League - $60.00 (+ $20 affiliation)
