2027 Wellington Secondary Schools Underwater Hockey League

The Wellington Underwater Hockey Association runs a league for secondary school year 9 to 13 athletes, the league is administered by College Sport Wellington (CSW).
It is a structured league with 4 grades (Junior Girls, Junior Open, Senior Girls and Senior Open). Junior Grades are Year 9-10 and Senior grades catering for Year 9-13 players. Teams comprise of up to 12 athletes. For CSW league team numbers are not restricted. For Central Schools and NZ Secondary Schools teams are restricted to a 12 athletes. All school league matches are played at Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre. In 2027, we will utilise Naenae and Huia Pools as part of the league venues. Schools Coach registration:
Wellington Underwater Hockey Association requires everyone who is coaching a team in the WUHA Schools league to be registered. Please request all coaches for your schools UWH team/s complete this form. Senior Refs squad applications:
WUHA is asking for expressions of interest from those who would like to be part of the Senior Refs Squad. The Senior Refs Squad is a team of qualified L1 refs that ref games in the junior schools league while mentoring junior refs on Fridays and Tuesdays. If you are interested please complete the form. |

2027 Competition League- Terms 2 & 3
Location: Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre
The competition league will run from Friday 4th May 2027 until 20th August 2027. All teams will play 20-24 Matches for the season.

2027 Wellington Blitz Tournament
Time and Date: 7.30pm Friday 2nd April - Saturday 3rd April 2026
Location: Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre
Entry Fee: $150 per team
Entries due: 26th March 2027.
Tournament focus on organising teams and increasing player participation to set up teams for success in the 2026 Schools League and the UWHNZ Events. (There will be no finals or medals awarded.)

Entries due: 26th March 2027.

- The schedule will be a straight Round Robin format and game times will be altered to fit the pool hours available.
- No gear check
- 3 water Referees 1x CR- Allocated to teams. Referees must wear Red referees caps, yellow gloves, Vest. L1 -Candidates should try to log as many matches as possible.
- Scorers Desk- Allocated to schools to provide two parents for scoring both courts on the court 1 desk.

Pool Rules
General:
- Set up may begin at 7:20pm or earlier if the blue mats are down
- Goals and barriers must be placed on the blue mats when getting them in and out of the water
- 2 people per goal bin to carry and when swimming them in the water
- 1 person per yellow barrier to carry and when swimming them in the water
- There is to be no use of the bulk heads, if you must get from one side to the other either walk around or swim across
- There is to be no poolside changing (public have recently been complaining)
- A spotter is required for UWH and is a designated person focused on the pool at all times, they must be seated next to the pool on the blue chair
