Schools League
|
WUHA runs a schools league for year 9 to 13 players, the league is administered by College Sport Wellington (CSW). It is a structured league with 4 grades (Junior Girls, Junior Open, Senior Girls and Senior Open) to provide for both u15 and u18 players.
2012 Season: Preseason League (20th March – 3rd April) – Schools wanting an opportunity to play in this need to register through the online system (CSW website) and a draw will be done prior to the start of the league for the 3 weeks. There is limited space and should be promoted to new or junior teams to have game time prior to competition commencing. Grading Round – All teams need to be entered into these leagues if they want to play this season. When entering teams, all information such as coaches/managers/referees need to be completed. Format – This has changed a little from last year with the actual competition consisting of grading games, then a competition round (grades where there are a large number of teams will be split into a Division 1 and 2 after grading based on results). All points start fresh at the start of championship round with semi finals and finals to be played based on rankings. Gold medals provided to winners of a division. Venues – On Tuesday evenings at Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre and Fridays at Huia Pool,. Venues and days have remained the same as last year with slight tweaks in game commencement times, schools will need to take note of this when looking at the draw. Given the nature of the sport, teams will sometimes have 2 games a week and play at both venues. The draw for the whole round will be published before the start of the competition so teams can make arrangements regarding transport. Duty - As usual the sport of UWH relies heavily on the support of schools/parents/students to help with duty and refereeing responsibilities. Without this support the sport would not operate as well as it does. It is encouraged that all schools have managers that support this process when schools are required to take on these duties. WUHA will provide a pool manager, but their role on the night is to oversee the competition. Coaches Pass – To enable coaches to gain free access to the WRAC during competitions, coaches can apply for a pass. To get the form please contact CSW. The application needs to be completed and returned to CSW, along with an appropriate passport photo (this can be done digitally). More information can be found on the college sport website, including draws, registration and results.http://collegesport.org.nz/college-sport-wellington/underwater-hockey/ |
